Brazil TSE updates e-Título app and processes 2026 election candidacies

As Brazil prepares for the 2026 general elections, the Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE) has announced several updates to electoral processes and digital services. The TSE has analyzed approximately 99% of the nearly 21,000 candidacy registration requests, rejecting about 1,200 due to formal requirement failures, eligibility issues, or party convention irregularities. Of these, 335 rejections are definitive, while 869 remain appealable.

To facilitate voter engagement and combat disinformation, the TSE has begun sending official notifications via the e-Título app. The updated application includes new security features and services such as real-time tracking of Título Net requests, issuance of party affiliation certificates, and the ability to justify voting absences via geolocation. Voters with registered biometrics and photos can also use the app as an official identification document.

Additionally, legal protections under the Electoral Code will take effect this Saturday, granting candidates immunity from arrest or detention for 15 days prior to the first round of voting, except in cases of flagrante delito. This protection remains in effect until 48 hours after the polls close to ensure electoral stability.
