Brazil's World Cup exit triggers hospitality and advertising adjustments
The defeat of Brazil in the World Cup halted a surge in sales for bars and restaurants in Goiânia, where revenue had risen about 20% during the national team's matches. With the tournament now over, owners are shifting to promotions, live music and themed events to sustain foot traffic in July, and Abrasel Goiás president Jaudete Thiosti noted, “Sim, há uma diminuição em torno de 10%, pois recebemos muitos visitantes do interior e de outros estados.”
Ahead of a potential victory, Neymar had recorded eight advertising campaigns positioning him as the “hero of the hexa.” A column cited a source saying, “Não importa quem saísse como destaque do Brasil em caso de vitória, a ideia era que se vendesse a ideia de Neymar como o grande ‘herói do hexa’.” The loss means those ads will remain unused, highlighting the commercial plans tied to the national team's performance.
