Brazzaville dominates Congolese jujitsu national championships
The Congolese Federation of Jujitsu and Self-Defence (Fécoju-self) held its first national championships in several years at the Henri-Elendé gymnasium in Brazzaville from October 3 to 5, 2026. The event marked the official return of the discipline to Congolese competition following a period of suspension.
Approximately 140 athletes from six departments—Brazzaville, Kouilou, Sangha, Niari, Bouenza, and Likouala—competed in two styles: Ne-Waza (ground combat) and the Fighting System (full combat). Brazzaville dominated the competition, securing 11 of the 17 available gold medals. Kouilou followed with three gold medals, while Sangha earned one.
The championships were the first organized under the leadership of federation president Albaret Céleste Amona, also known as ‘Master Barabas’. Officials from the Congolese National Olympic and Sports Committee (Cnosc) attended the closing ceremony, which honored various supporters and sports officials for facilitating the sport's return to the national Olympic landscape.
