Breast cancer screening initiatives highlighted in Algeria and France

Health professionals and institutions are emphasizing the importance of breast cancer screening and early detection. In Algeria, medical experts have discussed the necessity of understanding the disease and the various treatment circuits patients must follow. Discussions have also covered broader health topics, including diabetes, Alzheimer's care, and vaccination campaigns organized by laboratories such as Frater-Razes.

In France, the National Cancer Institute is relaunching its organized screening campaign for women aged 50 to 74. Despite 95% of women expressing support for screening, participation rates have been declining. For the 2024-2025 period, approximately 4.9 million women underwent mammographies out of a target population of 10.8 million, resulting in a participation rate of 45.7%. Experts note that early diagnosis is critical, as nine out of ten breast cancers can be cured when detected at an early stage.
