Brenner North Access rail project completes preliminary planning

The preliminary planning for the Brenner North Access project has been completed, marking a milestone for the expansion of the Brenner Base Tunnel infrastructure. DB InfraGO has finalized the plans for the approximately 54-kilometer route, which is intended to run from Grafing via Munich to the Austrian border. Much of this new track is expected to be underground.

The project aims to significantly improve freight transport and reduce travel times for long-distance passengers. Once completed, the connection is expected to allow trains to travel between Munich and Verona in approximately three and a half hours. The plans will now be submitted to the German Bundestag for decision-making.
