Brest residential building achieves high thermal efficiency through renovation

A residential building in the Bellevue district of Brest has achieved significant thermal efficiency following a major energy renovation. The 1977 building, previously classified as a thermal leak, now maintains a temperature of 23°C without the need for active heating.

The renovation project cost 1.58 million euros and improved the building's energy rating from D to B, reducing its thermal coefficient by over 70%. Key technical improvements included the installation of a “mur-rideau” (curtain wall) to convert balconies into living space and mitigate heat loss.

The project received substantial public financial support, with subsidies covering 707,000 euros, or 45% of the total cost. Funding was provided by the Agence nationale de l’habitat (Anah), Brest métropole, and the Bretagne region. The local public service platform Tinergie provided technical and financial guidance throughout the process.
