Nusa Tenggara Timur earthquake relief efforts scale up

Massive relief efforts are underway in Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) following a major earthquake in the Flores region. The Indonesian government, through the BNPB, has mobilized over 250 tons of logistics via 12 air sorties, including food, tents, medical supplies, and Starlink communication devices to ensure connectivity in affected areas.

Corporate and community organizations are also providing critical support. BRI has established three logistics posts in West Manggarai, Ngada, and Nagekeo, along with a public kitchen in Nagekeo. Pupuk Indonesia is deploying volunteers to Ruteng to distribute food packages, blankets, and medical aid. Additionally, the West Sumatra provincial government is organizing a 1.5-ton rendang food aid drive, noting the dish's practicality for earthquake survivors.

On the ground, Baznas has deployed emergency response teams to Nagekeo to assist in search and rescue operations for citizens trapped in ruins. Humanitarian aid is being coordinated through major hubs in Labuan Bajo and Maumere to reach heavily damaged districts. The response involves a multi-modal approach using air, sea, and land transport to navigate the archipelago's geography.
