East Nusa Tenggara earthquake relief efforts scale up

Overview

Relief efforts in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) have scaled up following a major earthquake in the Flores region. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has mobilized over 250 tons of logistics through 12 air sorties, delivering food, tents, medical supplies, and Starlink communication devices to maintain connectivity in affected areas.

In addition to the previously established rice reserves managed by Bulog, various organizations are expanding their presence. BRI continues to operate its three logistics posts in West Manggarai, Ngada, and Nagekeo. Pupuk Indonesia is deploying volunteers to Ruteng to distribute blankets, medical aid, and food packages, while the West Sumatra provincial government is organizing a 1.5-ton rendang food aid drive.

Search and rescue operations are being supported by Baznas, which has deployed emergency response teams to Nagekeo to assist citizens trapped in ruins. Humanitarian aid is being coordinated through major hubs in Labuan Bajo and Maumere, utilizing a multi-modal transport approach involving air, sea, and land to navigate the archipelago’s geography and damaged infrastructure.
