Indonesia strengthens MSME support and banking security
Indonesian authorities and financial institutions are implementing various strategies to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and protect digital banking users.
PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) is focusing on helping MSMEs enter global markets by addressing three key challenges: production capacity and quality, financial literacy, and business access. BRI provides financing to increase production scales, with MSME credit reaching Rp1,235.4 trillion by the end of Q2 2026. Simultaneously, BRI is warning customers about increasing cybercrime and banking fraud. The bank emphasizes using official channels, such as the 1500017 contact number, and reminds users that staff will never request private data like PINs or OTP codes.
Additionally, the Ministry of MSMEs is encouraging the use of Land Title Certificates (SHAT) as collateral to expand access to non-KUR (People's Business Credit) financing. This initiative, supported by the LokaModal program, aims to provide micro-entrepreneurs with more diverse funding options through collaboration between the government and financial institutions. Public-private partnerships, such as those involving the Sampoerna Entrepreneurship Training Center (SETC), also continue to play a role in training MSMEs to improve export competitiveness.
