BRICS Academic Forum convenes in Lucknow under India's Presidency

The 18th BRICS Academic Forum is taking place in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, from August 23-25. Organized by the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), and the University of Lucknow, the event is held under India’s BRICS Presidency.

Under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” the forum gathers academics, researchers, and policymakers from BRICS nations to address global challenges. As the grouping marks 20 years of cooperation, discussions are centered on the next phase of the alliance, including the reform of global financial, trade, and multilateral institutions.

Key areas of focus include strengthening resilience in economic, social, health, and climate systems. Participants are also exploring cooperation on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and digital public infrastructure, alongside efforts to advance sustainable development through green finance and resilient energy systems.
