BRICS Tourism Working Group meets in Jaipur to discuss AI and sustainability
The second BRICS 2026 Tourism Working Group meeting was held in Jaipur, India, under India’s BRICS Chairship. Chaired by Tourism Secretary Bhuvnesh Kumar, the meeting brought together delegates from BRICS member states to advance cooperation in several key thematic areas.
The discussions focused on four primary priorities: the use of artificial intelligence in tourism, sustainability and responsible tourism, tourism skilling and capacity building, and the facilitation of tourism exchanges and seamless travel. The meeting operated under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” emphasizing tourism as a driver for economic growth, employment, and people-to-people exchanges.
Participants addressed how to respond to a changing global landscape shaped by technological advancements and evolving traveler expectations. The outcomes of these deliberations are intended to serve as a foundation for the upcoming BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting scheduled for August 21.
