Indonesia implements new energy, research, and labor developments

Several Indonesian institutions are advancing technological and operational shifts across various sectors. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has transitioned its locomotives and power cars to B50 biodiesel as of July 1, 2026, following a period of using B40. This move aims to increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions for long-distance and local train services.

In the research sector, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has developed EroSlide, an early warning system designed to detect erosion and landslides using various sensors for rainfall, soil moisture, and slope. Additionally, researchers from Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) are collaborating with BRIN on a technology-based potato seed research project in Garut, utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) technology to monitor environmental conditions.

In the financial sector, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) signed a Collective Labor Agreement for the 2026–2028 period with its labor union. The agreement, witnessed by the Minister of Manpower, is intended to foster a harmonious industrial relationship and support the company's ongoing transformation and growth.
