Brindisi Carabinieri announce new leadership and military honors

Carabinieri Italian Army Brindisi military honors Bersaglieri

Several military and law enforcement leadership changes and honors have been announced in the Brindisi province and across Italy.

Colonel Agostino Scala, Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri in Brindisi, introduced new officers for various command roles. Among them, Captain Francesco Lonigro has been appointed as the new Commander of the Fasano Company, succeeding Major Massimo Cicala. Lonigro, 41, previously served in the investigative units of Bologna, Torre Annunziata, and Benevento.

In a separate ceremony at the Brindisi Prefecture, Colonel Carlo Fabio Marcello Calcagni was awarded the 'Veteran of International Missions' medal by the Ministry of Defense. The honor recognizes his service in international military missions.

Additionally, Samuele Fasolo, a 20-year-old soldier from the 3rd Bersaglieri Regiment, received a commemorative medal from the Chamber of Deputies. The award follows his intervention in Cagliari, where he protected a 16-year-old girl from a group of aggressors while off-duty.
