Brindisi holds provincial presidential election this Sunday

The province of Brindisi will hold elections this Sunday to select a new provincial president following the departure of Angelo Pomes. The election features a political contest between Elio Ciccarese, representing the center-left, and Angelo Caforio, representing the center-right.

While initial figures suggest a difficult path for the center-right challenger, the political landscape remains uncertain. The center-left has recently faced setbacks in local municipalities such as Ostuni, Latiano, San Donaci, and Cellino San Marco, which may impact the provincial vote. Because the election is decided by councilors rather than a general public vote, the outcome will determine the successor to the leadership previously held by Pomes and Toni Matarrelli.
