Brindisi provincial presidential election

Overview

In early September 2026, a broad political alliance in the Brindisi province—including the Partito Democratico, Movimento 5 Stelle, and others—officially endorsed the current vice president, Elio Ciccarese, for the Presidency of the Province. Ciccarese sought to maintain administrative continuity with support from eleven of the province’s twenty mayors, focusing on infrastructure projects like schools and roads.

By late September, the province prepared for the election scheduled for Sunday, September 27. The contest to succeed Angelo Pomes features a matchup between the center-left Ciccarese and center-right challenger Angelo Caforio. Because the provincial president is decided by councilors rather than a general public vote, the election outcome remains uncertain, particularly following recent center-left setbacks in municipalities such as Ostuni, Latiano, San Donaci, and Cellino San Marco.

Entities
