Brindisi launches sports inclusion project at Parco Buscicchio

The “Sant’Elia – Scuola di Sport Popolare” project will launch this Saturday at Parco Buscicchio in the Sant’Elia district of Brindisi. Supported by Fondazione con il Sud, the initiative aims to transform the park and its sports facilities into a permanent community laboratory for local children and youth.

With a total funding of 298,000 euros, the four-year project focuses on urban regeneration and social inclusion in a peripheral area marked by economic hardship. The plan includes upgrading public spaces, conducting building repairs within the park, and establishing a sports hub offering free activities such as athletics, social football, gymnastics, volleyball, rugby, and cycling.

Beyond physical activity, the program provides psycho-educational support through a dedicated psychological service. It specifically targets at-risk youth, NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training), students facing academic difficulties, and families in economic disadvantage to promote social skills and mental well-being.
