Urban regeneration and social inclusion in Brindisi

Overview

Urban regeneration and social inclusion initiatives have been implemented in Brindisi, Italy, through various community-focused projects.

In September 2026, the “Sant’Elia – Scuola di Sport Popolare” project was launched at Parco Buscicchio. Supported by Fondazione con il Sud with 298,000 euros in funding, this four-year initiative aims to revitalize a peripheral area by upgrading public spaces and establishing a sports hub. The program offers free activities such as athletics, football, and rugby, while providing psycho-educational support to at-risk youth and families facing economic hardship.

By October 2026, the Residenze Play Brindisi experimentation concluded its first year at Parco del Cillarese. As part of the National Program Metro Plus e Città Medie Sud 2021–2027, this project utilized art and collaborative design to transform public space. The initiative involved 60 young participants who worked with curators and international studios to create three new lightweight architectural installations, focusing on social activation and youth engagement.
