Brisbane dog attack investigation linked to discovery of man's body

A 37-year-old real estate agent, Ajay Malik, is facing a long physical and emotional recovery after being mauled by two dogs while running in 7th Brigade Park, Chermside, on a Friday evening. Mr. Malik sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was treated at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. During the incident, first responders were forced to open fire to subdue the dogs, which were later located and taken into Brisbane City Council custody.

Following the attack, police discovered the body of a 48-year-old man in nearby bushland on Sunday. While the man was known to sleep rough in the area, Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham stated that due to the state of decomposition, authorities cannot rule out the involvement of the same dogs in the man's death. A post-mortem indicated the man died on the same day as the attack on Mr. Malik.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist Mr. Malik and his wife with medical, rehabilitation, and living expenses, as he is expected to be unable to work for an extended period.
