Briscoe Group posts modest sales growth as World Cup lifts sporting goods

Briscoe Group Limited reported a modest increase in group sales for the second quarter ended 27 July 2026, with revenue edging up 0.25 percent to about $193 million. The rise was driven by a 4.84 percent jump in its sporting‑goods division, which manager Rod Duke attributed to heightened consumer interest from the FIFA World Cup, Auckland FC’s A‑League win, the Warriors’ NRL campaign and the All Blacks’ home series. Homewares sales fell 2.7 percent in the quarter, reflecting a milder winter and weaker travel‑related demand.

For the first half of the year, total sales reached $374.2 million, a 0.79 percent increase year‑on‑year. Online sales grew 2.07 percent, now accounting for 19.6 percent of total revenue, and the company launched a new rewards scheme for its Rebel Club loyalty program. Briscoe expects gross‑profit margins to improve further and projects net profit after tax of at least $27 million for the six‑month period. The full half‑year results, including an interim dividend, are slated for release on 16 September 2026.
