British Ambassador visits international falcon auction in Riyadh

The British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Stephen Hitchon, visited the International Falcon Production Farms Auction held at the National Falcons Center in Malham, north of Riyadh. During the visit, the ambassador explored various activities reflecting the cultural heritage and significance of falconry in Saudi Arabia, noting the participation of both local and international production farms.

Hitchon described the experience as unique, noting that while he had seen falcons in Britain, he had not witnessed such scale and presence before. He expressed interest in continuing to learn about the kingdom's falconry heritage and indicated plans to attend the Saudi International Falcons and Hunting Exhibition in October.

The auction, which runs for 21 days until August 25, includes specialized sections such as the ‘Future Falconer’ pavilion designed to teach children falconry skills. During the eighth night of the event, six falcons were sold for a total value of 312,000 riyals.
