British baby dies after drowning in Fuerteventura pool

A one‑year‑old British child drowned on 15 June in the pool of a holiday resort on Fuerteventura, Spain. Emergency services air‑lifted the girl by medical helicopter to the University Hospital Materno‑Infantil in Gran Canaria, where she was placed in intensive care.

After a week of treatment, she died on 22 June. The incident was reported by the local safety platform Canarias, 1 500 km de Costa, whose coordinator Sebastián Quintana expressed condolences and warned parents to supervise children constantly around water.
