British Columbia Agriculture Minister urges support for wildfire-affected farmers

Lana Popham, the Minister of Agriculture and Food, has issued a call for British Columbians to support farmers and food producers in regions impacted by wildfires. Specifically, she highlighted the need to assist communities in Summerland and the Okanagan, which have faced evacuations, road closures, and smoke disruption during a critical period of the year.

Popham encouraged residents to look for the ‘Buy BC’ label to identify products grown, raised, or processed within the province. She noted that consumers can support these affected businesses by purchasing local fruit, produce, and food products at grocery stores, or by choosing wines, ciders, beers, and spirits from the Summerland and Okanagan regions when dining out or visiting liquor stores.
