Wildfire impacts and safety concerns in British Columbia

Cleanup operations in the Lumby area have faced delays to avoid the risk of accidental fire ignition during high-risk periods.

Following the wildfire season, relief efforts have been documented in the Central Okanagan. The Salvation Army reported providing over 5,000 meals and more than $75,000 in practical assistance, including grants and hygiene products, to those impacted by the Bradley Creek, Quilpituk, and Bald Range wildfires. Additionally, the B.C. Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness announced over $1.3 million in funding through the Community Emergency Preparedness Fund (CEPF). This funding supports 29 projects, including $29,916 for evacuation planning in the District of Sicamous and $40,000 for the Neskonlith Indian Band to strengthen readiness in high-risk areas.
