British Columbia border crossings adjust hours to align with U.S. time

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is adjusting the operating hours of nine land ports of entry in British Columbia to maintain synchronization with Washington State. This change is a response to British Columbia’s decision to adopt permanent year-round daylight saving time, while the United States continues to observe seasonal clock changes.

The Lynden-Aldergrove crossing, along with the Carson, Cascade, Chopaka, Fraser, Midway, Nelway, Pleasant Camp, and Waneta crossings, will shift from their current 8 a.m. to midnight schedule to new hours of 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. This adjustment will remain in effect until March 14, 2027, when U.S. time shifts again.

Crossings that operate 24 hours a day, such as Sumas–Huntingdon and Blaine-Peace Arch, are not affected by these changes. In addition to British Columbia, the Yukon, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba have also ended the practice of seasonal time changes.
