British Columbia emergency crews respond to structure and wildfires
Emergency crews in British Columbia are responding to multiple fire incidents. In Salmon Arm, the fire department contained a structure fire at the Birch Lanes manufactured home park on 20th Avenue NE. The fire, which occurred in an unoccupied residence, was difficult to fully extinguish due to a secondary roof that trapped heat between layers.
In the Burns Lake area, lightning strikes have triggered several wildfires. One small fire near 7 Mile Forest Service Road has been extinguished. A second, larger wildfire (G41970) near Endako is estimated at 110 hectares and remains out of control, with crews utilizing helicopters and air tankers to establish containment lines. A third small fire near Richmond Lake is currently being held.
