British Columbia regional district election candidates announced

Local elections for several regional districts in British Columbia are approaching on October 17.

In the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako, the nomination period has closed for seven director positions. Three directors—Mark Parker (Area D), Clint Lambert (Area E), and Shirley Moon (Area F)—are set to be acclaimed, while Chris Newell (Area G) is also slated for acclamation. Contested races will occur in Electoral Area A, Area B, and Area C. Additionally, candidates have been announced for the Fort Fraser Local Community Commission.

In the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD), eight of the ten rural electoral area seats have been filled by acclamation. Only two races will proceed to a vote: a rematch in Area E between incumbent Jim Smith and Sally Watson, and a rematch in Area I between incumbent Tricia Thorpe and Steven Rice. Several incumbents and newcomers were acclaimed to their respective seats, including Usoff Tsao, Lee Onslow, Michael Grenier, Doug Haughton, and Jill Hayward.
