British father pleads guilty to toddler's death in Cyprus hotel fall

A 37-year-old British man, identified as Joshua Foster, an AI director at KPMG, has pleaded guilty to causing death through a reckless, rash, or dangerous act in Paphos, Cyprus. The plea follows a tragic incident on July 12, during a family holiday at the King Evelthon Beach Hotel and Resort, where his two-year-old son fell from a fourth-floor window.

Reports indicate the child fell while the father was playing with him near an elevator or while sitting him on a window ledge. Foster’s legal counsel, Alexandros Alexandrou, stated the decision to plead guilty was intended to avoid a lengthy trial and spare the family from the distress of presenting detailed evidence in court.

The defendant, who is from Essex, had previously been granted permission to return to the United Kingdom for his son’s funeral under strict conditions. A further hearing is scheduled for October 5 at the Paphos District Court to address mitigation and sentencing. The charge carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison.
