British rapper Yung Filly to testify in Australian rape trial
British rapper and YouTuber Yung Filly, whose legal name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, is scheduled to give evidence in the Perth District Court as his defence against ten charges of sexual assault, assault and choking. The alleged offences stem from a September 2024 encounter with a 20‑year‑old fan during his Australian tour, when the woman says the rapper entered a VIP area at Bar1 Nightclub, later taking her to a hotel where she claims non‑consensual sex, biting, hitting and choking occurred.
Filly has pleaded not guilty and will take the stand when the trial resumes. Evidence presented includes nightclub video footage, forensic DNA tests that did not detect male DNA, and a blood sample showing the woman had MDMA. Defence counsel David Edwardson KC criticised the police investigation, questioning why an Uber driver and other witnesses were not interviewed. The trial continues in Perth.
