Italy men's volleyball secures VNL Finals spot

The Italy men’s national volleyball team clinched a place in the 2026 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) Finals after a 3‑1 comeback win over Cuba at the Asu Arena in Osaka, Japan (set scores 17‑25, 25‑19, 25‑21, 25‑17). The victory raised Italy to eight wins, 26 points and a provisional fourth‑place standing, guaranteeing a berth among the Final Eight to be contested in Ningbo, China from July 29 to August 2.

Earlier in the same VNL window Italy also recorded straight‑set victories over Argentina (25‑22, 25‑22, 25‑22) and Belgium, reinforcing their momentum. Coach Ferdinando De Giorgi praised the squad’s resilience and tactical discipline, highlighting top scorer Yuri Romanò’s 15 points in the Cuba match and the balanced contributions of Mattia Bottolo, Simone Giannelli and others. The team now aims to maintain its form heading into the final phase of the tournament.
