Britney Spears releases unreleased 2001 song co-written with Justin Timberlake

Britney Spears has released “She’ll Never Be Me,” an unreleased song originally recorded for her 2001 self-titled album, “Britney.” The track was co-written by Spears and her former partner, Justin Timberlake, alongside Bradley Daymond and Alex Greggs.

The release serves as a preview for the “Britney (25th Anniversary Edition),” which is scheduled for release on November 6. This anniversary edition will include five previously unreleased tracks: “She’ll Never Be Me,” “Right Now (Taste the Victory),” “Am I a Sinner,” “When I Say So,” and “My Big Secret.”

Some fans have expressed mixed reactions to the release. Some observers noted that because Spears sold her music catalog in early 2024, she may no longer have direct control over such releases. Additionally, some fans have called for a boycott, citing concerns over Justin Timberlake profiting from the song's release.
