Brittany Boltinhouse sues Miss USA organizers for defamation

Brittany Boltinhouse, the former Miss North Carolina USA, has filed a defamation lawsuit against the Miss USA Organization, its CEO Thom Brodeur, and pageant producers A-Blaize Productions. The legal action, filed in Duplin County Superior Court, follows her removal from the title in August 2026.

Boltinhouse alleges that the organizations maliciously coordinated a false public narrative to portray her as a racist, homophobe, and bigot. While the pageant organizers cited resurfaced social media posts from 2017 and 2019 containing racial slurs as the reason for her dethronement, Boltinhouse contends that her removal was actually motivated by her conservative Christian beliefs and political views.

Her legal team argues that the use of the racial slur in the old posts was colloquial and that the organizers used the controversy to hide their true intentions. Boltinhouse is seeking compensatory and punitive damages for harm to her reputation, livelihood, and professional relationships.
