Broad Peak avalanche: Recovery and memorials for ten climbers

Commemorations and recovery efforts are underway following a major avalanche at Broad Peak that killed ten mountaineers during an international expedition led by Nirmal Purja. The victims include six Nepalese climbers and several international participants.

In Kathmandu, Buddhist ceremonies have been held to honor the deceased. Among the victims was Marco Di Marcello, a 37-year-old Italian biologist, who was honored by the Sherpa community through local religious rituals. His family is awaiting cremation before returning his ashes to Italy.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan announced the successful recovery of the body of Pakistani climber Sohail Sakhi at an altitude of approximately 5,600 meters. Search operations continue for the remaining two missing victims, Nawang Thindu Sherpa and American climber Sarah Mallory Geis.
