Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park reopens after wildfire

Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java has reopened to visitors following a wildfire that destroyed approximately 1,120 hectares of land. The blaze, which began on August 3, led to a temporary closure of the popular destination to allow for firefighting, safety checks, and monitoring.

While the Bromo area has resumed operations with a daily visitor quota of 2,752, new fire concerns have emerged at Mount Semeru. A separate fire in the Ranu Kembang block on the Mount Semeru climbing route has led to a total closure of that specific hiking path until further notice. This closure is intended to facilitate fire control and the evacuation of visitors.

Park authorities have advised visitors to follow strict safety regulations to prevent future blazes, specifically prohibiting smoking, lighting fires, or any activities that could trigger new wildfires. Visitors with existing bookings for the closed Semeru routes will be eligible for refunds or rescheduling once information is released.
