By 7 August the blaze in Bromo‑Tengger‑Semeru National Park had already grown from about 70 ha to roughly 125 ha, prompting two water‑bombing helicopters on standby, fire‑break construction and cloud‑seeding preparations. Joint response teams from the disaster agencies of Probolinggo, Malang and Lumajang, the TNI‑Polri, park officials and local volunteers continued direct suppression, while access to the volcano remained limited.

Later on 7 August officials reported that the fire had further expanded, with estimates ranging from 125 ha to 176 ha. Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa inspected the site as additional BNPB helicopters, drone surveillance and ground crews were deployed. Planned cloud‑seeding and continued water‑bombing aim to curb the spread. Park management suspects the blaze originated from a human‑made fire on the traditional Blok Bantengan trail.

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency also noted simultaneous containment of smaller forest and land fires in Sulawesi, Papua and Lombok, but no injuries or casualties have been reported in the Bromo incident.
