Bronisz market prices fall amid heat‑driven vegetable oversupply

Unusually high temperatures and hot nights have accelerated the ripening of vegetables in Bronisz, creating a surplus that is pushing wholesale prices down. Zucchini, which a week ago sold for about 4 PLN per kilogram, is now around 3 PLN/kg. Cucumbers from protected cultivation have slipped to roughly 2 PLN/kg, sometimes below that level. Peas (bób) have fallen to about 10 PLN/kg, while a shortage of late‑season asparagus has driven its price up to nearly 40 PLN/kg.

Tomatoes are also feeling the pressure. Strawberry‑type tomatoes are now offered at as low as 3 PLN/kg, with higher‑quality batches reaching about 4 PLN/kg, whereas red tomatoes retain slightly higher prices. Market representative Maciej Kmera noted that “the market is experiencing a collapse due to massive product increase,” highlighting the rapid shift in supply and pricing dynamics across a range of produce.

These trends reflect farmers’ expectations of further declines as the heat continues, affecting both producers and buyers in the regional agricultural supply chain.
