Bronisz, Poland wholesale potato prices fall as young domestic stock overtakes market

Wholesale traders in Bronisz, near Warsaw, report sharp price declines for last‑year stored potatoes as fresh, domestically‑grown tubers gain market share. Prices for older light‑fleshed varieties have dropped to about 6–7 zł per bag, while yellow‑fleshed types trade at 6–7 zł per bag, well below the cost of long‑term storage. Young potatoes are now selling for 2–3 zł per kilogram, with yellow varieties slightly cheaper.

Importers still offer last‑year potatoes from the Netherlands at roughly 12 zł per bag, and Egyptian potatoes at 2–2.5 zł per kilogram, primarily to the catering sector. However, the supply of imported stock is dwindling, leaving domestic producers to clear their storages quickly amid rising competition from the new harvest.
