Brooklyn police investigate woman's body found in trash can

Police discovered the body of an unidentified woman inside a trash can in a parking lot near Plumb Beach in Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon. Emergency services responded to a 911 call around 3:00 p.m. near the intersection of the Belt Parkway and Knapp Street.

The woman was found unconscious and was pronounced dead at the scene. The location is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area, a site frequently visited by windsurfers and kiteboarders. Investigators were seen collecting evidence at the scene, and the Office of Chief Medical Examiner removed the body on Wednesday night.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause or manner of death, nor how long the body had been in the container. As of Wednesday night, no arrests have been made.
