Brooklyn woman found dead under suspicious circumstances

Authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a 59-year-old woman in a Brooklyn apartment. The woman was discovered face-down on a sofa in her Bay Ridge residence near 79th Street and Third Avenue after her son requested a wellness check.

Police and EMS pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Following the discovery, the victim’s husband was taken into custody in Sunset Park after barricading himself inside his vehicle. While law enforcement suspects foul play, the specific role the husband may have played in the death has not yet been determined.
