Brown bear sighted above Lidl store in Handlová, Slovakia

The Trenčín regional police issued a public alert after a brown bear was observed flying over the Lidl supermarket in the garden area of Handlová. The report, posted on social media, warned residents to exercise increased caution and to call emergency line 158 if needed.

A state nature‑protection response team was dispatched to the location, and authorities advised people to stay on marked trails, avoid dense vegetation, make moderate noise, and not approach any bear cubs. The alert follows a recent incident in late June where a hunter near Kremnica legally shot a 7‑year‑old female bear that had approached a trail; the cub was not found and the area continues to be monitored with camera traps.
