Brown bear sightings reported in Hungary's Aggteleki National Park

The Aggteleki National Park reported two recent brown bear sightings. The first was on May 31 near Szögliget and Bódvaszilas in the park’s northern sector, observed by a hiker. The second occurred on June 1 near the village of Égerszög in the park’s southern area, detected by a park ranger.

Park authorities warned visitors to stay calm, keep a safe distance, avoid sudden movements, and ensure the animal has an escape route. The bears are native to nearby Slovak and Transylvanian mountain regions and occasionally wander into Hungary via natural migration corridors.
