BRS leader Harish Rao threatens protest over Telangana paddy procurement delays
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) deputy leader T. Harish Rao visited the paddy procurement centre at Ensanpalli in Siddipet district and warned the Telangana state government to accelerate purchases within two days or face a farmer protest. He accused the Congress-led administration of neglecting farmers, citing failures in fertilizer, electricity, and the Rythu Bandhu scheme, and pointed out that the civil supplies minister reduced the promised procurement target from 90 lakh tonnes to 70 lakh tonnes.
Rao said the slowdown left large quantities of paddy unprocured, causing losses for farmers and even deaths in drying yards. He threatened to lead thousands of farmers in a demonstration at the district collectorate if the government does not act promptly.
