Brunello Cucinelli opens Casa Cucinelli flagship in Shanghai
Luxury brand Brunello Cucinelli has opened Casa Cucinelli in the Jing’an district of Shanghai. Located within the China Resources Centre, the flagship occupies the historic Cao Zhai residence, a building originally designed by architect Gu Daosheng in 1927.
The space is designed to function more like an Italian home than a traditional retail boutique. The ground floor features a library containing over 500 volumes of Western and Chinese classics, a café, a dining room, and private lounges. The upper floors are dedicated to the brand’s collections, with women’s ready-to-wear and accessories on the first floor and menswear on the second.
The renovation preserved many original architectural elements, including floor mosaics, parquet flooring, stained-glass windows, and an Art Deco staircase. New additions include a winter garden inspired by Shanghai’s Shikumen architecture and a domed rooftop pavilion. The location also introduces bespoke services to the city, including Sartoria Solomeo for made-to-measure tailoring and Solomeo Atelier for personalized brand experiences.
