Bruno Retailleau launches first 2027 presidential campaign rally in Paris

On 20 June 2026, Bruno Retailleau, the leader of France’s Les Républicains (LR), held his first major campaign meeting at the Parc floral de Paris. Despite a heat wave, organizers reported around 6,000 supporters gathered, chanting “Bruno président !” and waving French flags. Retailleau thanked the crowd, saying, “Merci d’avoir bravé la canicule, vous êtes des milliers,” before outlining a right‑wing platform focused on order, security, immigration, work and merit, aiming to broaden his appeal beyond the party’s modest 8‑9 % polling.

The rally marks Retailleau’s formal entry into the 2027 French presidential race, positioning him as a contender seeking to attract voters dissatisfied with both Macron’s centrist government and the far‑right.
