Brunswick Wildfire Complex remains large despite temporary rain relief
The Brunswick Wildfire Complex, estimated at 67,722 hectares, has seen a temporary reduction in fire activity following rainfall of six to 14ml on August 29. However, the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) warns that no “fire ending” rain is currently forecasted in weather models.
Temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days, with highs in the low- to mid-twenties and relative humidity between 40 and 60 per cent. Due to extreme drought conditions affecting soil and vegetation, fire activity is expected to continue within the Ainslie Creek wildfire perimeter until winter.
An Area Restriction remains in place for the entirety of the Ainslie Creek wildfire area, scheduled to remain until noon on Monday, August 31. Fire Behaviour Specialists continue to conduct wood and soil sampling in the field to monitor low moisture content.
