Brussels police operation results in 60 arrests and drug seizures

A large-scale Full Integrated Police Action (FIPA) in Brussels has resulted in 60 arrests and 120 fines. The operation, part of the ‘Plan Grote Steden’ to combat urban crime and drug violence, involved over 600 personnel, including 450 police officers from federal and Brussels zones, security staff, and over 60 military members.

Authorities conducted checks at train and metro stations, as well as various drug trafficking hotspots. During the operation, 1,133 individuals, 272 vehicles, and 18 businesses were inspected. The results included 41 judicial and 19 administrative arrests, 81 official reports, and 120 immediate settlements for drug possession. Seized items included 11 weapons, 0.53 kilograms of drugs, 9,410 euros in cash, and 62,160 cigarettes.

The cabinet of Minister of Home Affairs and Security Bernard Quintin and the federal police stated that this action was pre-planned and not a direct reaction to recent shootings in Sint-Gillis, Anderlecht, and Sint-Jans-Molenbeek.
