Dolly Parton's estate sues nephew over alleged violent threats

The estate of Dolly Parton is embroiled in a legal battle following the singer's death on August 25. She’s Alive LLC, the entity managing Parton's business interests, has filed a lawsuit and obtained a temporary restraining order against Parton's nephew, Bryan Seaver.

Seaver, who served as Parton's head of security for over two decades and was the person who publicly announced her passing, was dismissed from his role and his company, Squadron Augmented Protection Services, in mid-September. The estate alleges that Seaver launched an “obscene, deliberate and escalating campaign of threats” to extort money from the estate. Court filings include alleged text messages where Seaver described himself as a “killer” and an “international arms dealer and mercenary,” while threatening to “destroy the entire brand.”

A Tennessee judge granted the restraining order, requiring Seaver to remain at least 1,000 feet away from estate employees, attorneys, and business partners. Seaver has denied the allegations, characterizing the messages as “rage talk” and claiming the term “killer” was an inside joke used with his late aunt. Parton's sister, Freida Parton, has also issued a statement on social media denying any family feud regarding the estate.
