Brydon Carse omitted from England squad amid police investigation

Brydon Carse has been omitted from the England squad for the third Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston following an incident in Derby city center. Derbyshire Police are currently investigating allegations of an assault related to the event, during which Carse was reportedly detained on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly outside a bar.

In addition to the police inquiry, the independent Cricket Regulator is investigating Carse’s conduct. England captain Joe Root noted that Carse is “very upset, very apologetic and understands his actions.”

Sonny Baker has been retained in the 15-man squad to replace Carse, while Matt Fisher has been omitted. Despite the ongoing investigations, Carse recently played for Durham in the County Championship, though he was absent from their recent match against Northamptonshire due to what was described as ‘pre-arranged workload management’ agreed upon with the England and Wales Cricket Board.
