Brydon Carse disciplinary investigation update
Overview
England fast bowler Brydon Carse remains under investigation by the independent Cricket Regulator following an incident in Derby on August 23. While Carse was initially detained on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly outside a nightclub, he was de-arrested after providing his details.
Derbyshire Police have officially closed their investigation into allegations of an assault related to the incident. Authorities confirmed that no charges will be brought and no further action will be taken because the alleged victim declined to file a formal complaint.
Despite the conclusion of the criminal investigation, Carse’s professional status has faced further escalation. He has been formally charged by the Cricket Regulator for breaching Regulation 3.2 of the ECB Professional Conduct Regulations. The regulator determined that his conduct during the August 23 incident, while out with Durham teammates, may have brought the game of cricket or the ECB into disrepute.
The matter is now being referred to an independent Cricket Discipline Panel for adjudication. Potential sanctions for the breach could range from a formal reprimand to a lengthy suspension. Carse has not been selected for England in any format since the incident and was recently omitted from the squad for an upcoming ODI tri-series in Pakistan.
