Brydon Carse cleared of charges following Derby nightclub incident
Derbyshire Police have closed their investigation into an alleged assault involving England fast bowler Brydon Carse, stating that no charges will be brought. The incident occurred in the early hours of August 23 at Molly Malone's in Derby, where Carse was initially arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly before being de-arrested after providing his details.
Following the initial arrest, an investigation into reports of an assault was launched. However, police confirmed that after the alleged victim was identified and interviewed, they decided to take no further action as the individual declined to file a formal complaint.
While the criminal investigation has concluded, Carse still faces scrutiny from the independent Cricket Regulator. The body will determine if any disciplinary proceedings are necessary regarding his conduct. The incident has already had professional consequences, as Carse was removed from England's squad for the Test series against Pakistan and the white-ball series against Sri Lanka.
