Brzesko and Żabno hold WWII remembrance walks

In Brzesko, the 33rd "Brzeskie ulice" historic walk took participants along Świerkowa Street, where a former Auschwitz prisoner’s striped uniform belonging to Władysław Krzyński was discovered in an old shed. The route also highlighted pre‑war houses, a former railway siding serving the Okocim Brewery and the ruins of a former swimming pool.

In Żabno, the 15th Days of Żabno programme featured a historical meeting titled "Cena wolności" to mark the 28 July 1944 Żabno Uprising, a local Armia Krajowa action during the broader Operation "Burza". The event began with flowers at the monument to fallen heroes and included a lecture by Dr Mateusz Kalita on the uprising’s significance for the community.
